The flame enamel pin is a highly detailed rectangular collectible that captures a tender, evocative moment between two characters set against an intricate architectural backdrop. Measuring 82.4mm wide by 58mm tall, this project required complex color layering, multiple metal finishes, and carefully integrated specialty effects. The client entrusted BJD Promos with realizing their artistic vision through a combination of enamel fills, pearl effects, and thoughtful refinements.

Material: Zinc alloy with thick metal base

Finishes and Effects:
Hard enamel fills with numerous Pantone-matched colors
Pearlescent enamels to enhance select areas of clothing and background
Transparent sandblast enamel in sky sections
Laser engraved backstamp with edition marking and decorative hearts

Production Split:
A: 25pcs, gold enamel sample version
B: 15pcs, black nickel metal
C: 15pcs, black nickel metal with alternative color scheme
Each variant was produced with identical mold specifications but unique enamel and metal combinations, giving the client flexibility in offering different editions to collectors.
The client was actively engaged from the start, providing clear feedback to ensure every detail matched their expectations:
Adjustment to Backstamp:
“Hi! Sorry, the hearts in the back stamp is to represent the posts. Will need 4 backing posts!”
The BJD Promos team quickly revised the die mold to integrate four pin posts for better support of the wide design. This adjustment guaranteed stability when worn or displayed.
Final Finishing Change:
“Oh this one add pearl but that’s the last change!”
With this request, a pearlescent enamel was added to specific sections of the design to create a subtle shimmer across the background and selected clothing details.
These revisions were incorporated into updated proofs shared with the client for final approval before production began.
Throughout the process, BJD Promos provided:
Multiple renders showing enamel placement and color separation
High-resolution previews illustrating each plating option
A confirmation step for the mold post positions
Clear communication about timelines for revisions and mass production
This transparent approach reassured the client that even the most delicate details would be respected.
Upon final approval, all versions proceeded to production simultaneously. The BJD Promos team applied thorough quality control measures:
Verifying correct color fill and pearl distribution
Ensuring smooth polishing on both gold and black nickel finishes
Inspecting the alignment of the engraved backstamp and the decorative hearts
Confirming that all four posts were precisely positioned
After the production run, samples were photographed and sent for client confirmation. When the shipment arrived, the client expressed appreciation for the high-quality finish and careful handling of the many small details.
“They came out perfectly! Thank you so much for all the effort you put into these. The pearl effect looks amazing.”
This project exemplified BJD Promos’ ability to adapt to complex design needs and deliver a polished collectible worthy of the client’s vision.
1. Can I produce multiple color variants from a single mold?
Yes! We can create different colorways or metal finishes using the same mold, which saves you cost and ensures consistency across editions.
2. What is pearlescent enamel and how is it applied?
Pearlescent enamel uses a fine mica powder that reflects light to produce a subtle shimmer. It is mixed into clear or colored enamel and applied to recessed areas during production.
3. How are custom backstamps created?
We engrave your unique backstamp artwork directly into the mold. This ensures every pin carries your branding or special design elements precisely and permanently.
